Adverbs modify a verb by giving information about

Where an action occurs (place)

How often an action occurs (frequency)

How an action occurs (manner)

When an action occurs (time)


Important Kinds of Adverbs:

1. Adverbs of Time (Which shows when)

Examples: I have heard this before. We shall now begin to work.

2. Adverbs of Frequency (Which shows how often)

Examples: I have told you twice.  He seldomcomes here.

3. Adverbs of Place (Which shows where)

Examples: Stand here. The horse galloped away.

4. Adverbs of Manner (Which shows how are in what manner)

Examples: Bharathi reads clearly. The boy works hard.
